Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 1

\(^.^)/ Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is FANTASTIC! Since I was expecting Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to be better than its predecessor, before watching, I was feeling both excited and nervous. I'm happy that the first episode turns out better than expected. I think the art/animation is better than that of the first anime. I especially like the black, white and red scene featuring Isaac and Bradley. As for the story, it is still that heart-wrenching, tragic story of two brothers who tried the impossible and failed. There's also a good mix of action and humor. It's amusing to see Ed getting all worked out when he's being called chiisai (small). It certainly brings back good old memories.Anyway, do you know the voice behind Urahara (Bleach) is the new voice for Roy Mustang?! As Urahara, I think Miki Shinichirou does a pretty good job, but I can't say the same for Roy Mustang. His voice seems to be lacking Mustang's arrogance and playfulness.Opening and Ending ThemesAs expected from Fullmetal Alchemist, the music is pretty good. I like both the Opening and Ending themes. The Opening theme is called 'Again' and it's by YUI. The Ending theme is 'Uso' and it's performed by SID.Opening Ending (Cute drawings!)Mini SummaryWhen the former Ice Alchemist, Isaac MacDougall, who has a grudge against the Fuhrer, King Bradley, runs amok inside Central, Roy Mustang, Flame Alchemist, is placed in charge of his capture. Edward Elric, Fullmetal Alchemist, and his younger brother Alphonse Elric are enlisted to capture Isaac. They manage to capture him, but he immediately escapes again. The two brothers then return to headquarters where they get lectured by Mustang. Their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Maes Hughes who meets Ed and Al for the first time, and he invites them to stay over at his house. This gives Hughes the chance to show off his wife Gracia and daughter Elicia. The next day, Isaac manages to escape pursuit from Armstrong (Strong Arm Alchemist), Ed, Al, and Mustang (Flame is useless against water.. haha!). When he's being cornered by Ed and Al in an alley, he activates multiple transmutation reactions at the same time, causing the brothers to think of the Philosopher’s Stone. Ed immediately asks him about the Philosopher’s Stone but he refuses to answer.Isaac then forms a giant block of ice and rides on top of it,. Realizing that Isaac is trying to bury Central in ice, they immediately give chase while Armstrong and Mustang take care of the transmutation circles that Isaac set up. The two brothers climb onto the block of ice and fight Isaac, and when Isaac tries to blow off Al’s head, he realizes that the armor suit is empty and has a soul affixed on it. Looking at that and Ed's lost arm, Isaac figures out that the two brothers had committed the taboo of Alchemy: Human transmutation. This angers Ed, and together with Al, they manage to throw Isaac off the ice. Isaac then freezes his blood to stab Ed in the shoulder. This gives him a chance to escape. When he enters into a dark alley, he finds Bradley waiting there. Isaac tries to take down Bradley with a spear of blood ice, but Bradley kills Isaac in one quick motion. By the time Ed and Al arrive on the scene, everything is already over, and they still don’t know if the Philosopher’s Stone was involved.Meanwhile, Lust is on the phone with someone about Isaac’s death and that person reports that Isaac has overused the Philosopher’s Stone. When she's being asked about Lior, she reports that things are going well.PicturesEd and Al vs IsaacEd is listening to Mustang's lecture.Onscreen: The noisy one has barged in.Elric is chanting 'Don't you dare call me small..'.Poor Mustang!!
