There are two things I like about this episode. One is the part where old Rockbell talks to Armstrong about Ed and Al's father, Winry's parents, Ishbal war and, why Ed and Al burnt their own home. Another thing I like is the pace. With this pace, hopefully in another few weeks time, we'll get to see new stuffs.Though the animation quality is great, I do find some parts of the retelling a little boring. I think I only have myself to blame as I've rewatched the first anime many times and I know the plot too well. Anyway, I can't wait for new stuffs to be shown!
Mini SummaryAfter their encounter with Scar, Ed and Al head back to Resembool to get repairs. Armstrong follows along as their guardian. One their way to Resembool, Armstong spots Dr Marco in one of the stops during the journey. Armstrong explains that Dr Marcoh was a State Alchemist, who used to research applying alchemy to medical treatments, but he disappeared during the Ishbal War. Ed decides to give chase as he feels that Dr Marcoh may know something about transmuting living things. While in the nearby town, they discover that Dr Marcoh has been using the name Mauro to help the people in the town with medical problems. They eventually find him and learn that he was researching the Philosopher’s Stone, but it's incomplete. Ed and others are surprised to see that the Philosopher's Stone is in liquid form instead of an actual stone. Ed insists that Dr Marcoh give him the research data, but Dr Marcoh refuses. They then leave his house, but before they board the train for Resembool, Marcoh stops them and passes a note to Ed. The note states the location of the research data: National Central Library's 1st Branch. When Dr Marcoh reaches home, he's shocked to see Lust in his house waiting for him.Ed, Al and Armstrong continue with their journey and soon they reach Resembool and arrive at Winry's place. Winry is happy to see them but is angry that the automail she made is in pieces. Since Ed and Al want to return to Central as soon as possible, Winry and her grandmother promise to have Ed's repairs done in three days. They thus start working day and night. On the first day, Ed decides to visit his mother’s grave. While he's gone, Armstrong learns about how Winry's parents died and, Ed and Al burning down their home so that they wouldn't think about looking back. After three days, Winry finishes rebuilding the arm. The first thing Ed does with his new limb is to use alchemy to repair Al’s armor. Early next morning, Ed, Al, and Armstrong bid their farewell and make their way to the train station to return to Central. Later that day, Winry realizes that she had forgotten one of the screws.
