I feel that
Shaman King is underrated even though it's one of the good shounen series around. It has a great cast of characters, pretty interesting plot and it's fun to watch.
Story: (9/10) – GreatAsakura Yoh is a Shaman, one who can see and communicate with spirits. Yoh's dream is to become the Shaman King, the strongest among all the Shamans, so that he can live a relaxing life. His spirit is a samurai spirit named Amidamaru. With the help of his spirit, his fiance, Anna and his fellow Shaman friends, Yoh pushes forward to try reach his goal.I find the plot really engaging. I love plots that revolve around friendship and battles, and
Shaman King is just my cup of tea. Throughout the entire series, I was constantly engaged with the twisting plot. The anime and manga differ quite a bit and have different endings. I personally prefer the manga ending.
Character: 9/10 - GreatI feel really connected with most of the characters. Shaman King is a pretty long series, with a huge cast of characters, but the 64 episodes certainly gives it room for each character to bloom. Here are some characters I like:
Amidamaru - I love samurai!!!
Tao Ren - Initially, I found his pointed hair really weird but I eventually got used to it and now I find it really cute.
Horo Horo - I like his simple-mindedness and cheerful personality.
Yoh - As a main character, he's not exactly very appealing. However, over time, his character certainly blooms and so does his charm.
Lyserg - He's a very pretty boy. In the manga, he grew up to be really good looking too.
Art/Animation: 7/10 – Fairly GoodThe art style is not exactly to my taste but it's bearable to watch. As for the animation, it was surely great for its time. Music: 7/10 – Fairly GoodThe openings and endings are not fantastic but pretty catchy.
Enjoyment: 9/10 - GreatBesides from battles, there are quite a number of funny moments in
Shaman King. The battles and funny moments certainly make this series a good watch.
Overall: 9/10 - GreatThis is a great series for shonen fans!
